Many of us have failed at weight loss attempts – either because we don’t eat enough healthy foods, or because we use unhealthy supplements to help us lose body fat. When it comes to achieving effective body-weight loss, most people choose a single goal: Either they pursue a low-calorie or high-protein diet and then go on a crash diet or crash energy supplement regimen to lose weight quickly, or they opt for a long-term low-fat, low-calorie or high-protein diet and then go on a crash weight loss program to gain muscle. While both of these diets are ineffective, the first one is better in the long run. Both of these diets are simply designed to increase your body fat and decrease your muscle mass; however, the long-term effect of these diets is that they actually cause more damage than good.

When you choose to lose body fat using a healthy, safe, and natural approach, there are several factors to consider when determining how to lose body fat and gain muscle simultaneously. First, you must recognize that your body is not designed to be a weightless machine. Our bodies are designed to store food for future use, but not to let the food that we eat go to waste. We need regular small meals throughout the day, because our bodies are programmed to feed on energy and nutrients as quickly as possible and without having to break down the stored food.

Second, when you are trying to lose weight and build muscle, you must realize that you need to get all of your daily calories and nutrients from foods that are natural, low-calorie sources. Your body is only designed to burn natural foods for fuel and not from chemical additives that may have been put in the foods.

Third, you must ensure that your diet is high in vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and proteins – the building blocks of muscle. As your body burns fat for fuel, it cannot use its own muscle cells as its source of nutrition. It needs to get all the energy it needs from foods that contain the proper amounts of these three essential nutrients.

Fourth, when you are trying to lose body weight and build muscle simultaneously, you need to make sure that you are not depriving yourself of any necessary nutrients while in this process. Eating large amounts of sugary foods and processed foods will actually cause your body to slow down its metabolic rate – making it harder for you to burn off fat and muscle. Instead of being able to burn the excess fat and build muscle, you will have to exercise longer and harder to build up your muscles.

When you are losing weight and building muscle simultaneously, you must ensure that you are taking in the right amount of calories to burn body fat while giving your body the nutrients it needs to keep itself in tip-top condition. As you do this, your body will be in a state of constant energy balance, giving you the energy to maintain your weight loss and build muscle at the same time.
