  1. thirst, weight loss, tiredness, peeing a lot, maybe yeast infections

  2. It depends how old you are. If it is the juvenile type of diabetes, it can come on quite suddenly, with extreme thirst, peeing a lot, being very tired, losing weight and possibly feeling out of breath. When my son had these symptoms at the age of four, I could hardly believe the doctor when she said he had diabetes!

For Type 2 diabetes which starts in later life, the symptoms are similar but maybe less sudden and acute. If you have any of them, do get yourself checked out. If you have this type of diabetes, it is unlikely you would need insulin injections, but it could be controlled by sensible diet and possibly tablets.

Do see your doctor if you have any worries!
