No – polyuria is not always a symptom of diabetes. Indeed, most diabetics do not experience frequent urination. As the glucose rises, however, the possibility of polyuria increases. There may be many causes of polyuria from simple infection to more serious disorders of the kidneys themselves. There are also central nervous system disorders which produce polyuria, although these are rare in comparison to the above. I wish you the very best of health and may God bless.

  2. That’s right. Polyuria (excess urination), polydypsia (excess thirst), polyphagia (excess hunger), fatigue, and weight loss. These are the classic signs for both Type I and Type II diabetes. There are plenty of differences between the two, but clinically speaking, one big difference is that Type 1 diabetics can get diabetic ketoacidosis if their blood sugar gets too high, while high blood sugar in a Type II diabetic will cause diabetic nonketotic coma. In this situation it’s thought that the Type II diabetics have just enough insulin to prevent the formation of ketone bodies.

Oh…. I didn’t look at the question right the first time. Urinating a lot certainly is not ALWAYS a symptom of diabetes, but it is one of the ‘classic’ symptoms.

  3. Yes because I am type 1 and my mom is type 2 and we both experienced urinating alot

  4. frequent urination is from high blood sugars which happens with both Type 1 and Type 2. So yes, you can experience frequent urination with both types.

  5. They say drink a lot of fluids and urinating a the first sign but my partner is type 2 taking medication and he does neither, i was recently diagnosed type 2 diet controlled and I do urinate a lot, I found the main thing with partner before he was diagnosed was mood swings, either nice or very grumpy.

  6. Most of the time, yes. Along with frequent thirst, blurred vision, unexplained weight loss, nausea, and overall body aches and cramps. The only way to be certain is to have blood work done by your physician. ——————————-
