  1. I can pee that many times in an hour and I don’t have diabetes. 4-5 times a day is not abnormal

  2. yeah that is normal. it really depends on how much you drink, if you drink a lot of water you will need to pee a lot more regularly.

The average person pees 4-6 times a day, depending on how much they drink. People with diabetes feel like they’re going every 10-15 minutes. I’m a type 2 diabetic, and before i got my sugars under control, I was peeing as much as every hour or two, even at night. You are perfectly normal and as far as I know, have nothing to worry about! :) Hope this helps!!

  4. it depends by what you mean. A lot of factors come into play to define your question as “normal”. Your age, your gender, any family history of diabetes and is it type I or II? your occupation (indoor, outdoor), your input, are you having too much caffeine (coffee, coke, chocolate etc, they all work as diuretics), are you on a diuretic type of medication? What do you mean by lately? could it be a urinary tract infection? do you have any other symptoms? if you female and had a few childbirths, you may suffer from some kind of incontinence? Most of all what do you mean by “a day”? is that a 24 hours period? then that sounds reasonable. It is more of a concern if you have to urinate more than once at night. What is your body-mass-index? what is your waist circumference? if you have a belly (men >94cm, women>80cm waist size), you’re more at risk of developing diabetes.
Diabetes can go without symptoms in the early stages but the classical ones are tiredness, increase urinating at night, excessive thirst (eg >3-4L water a day if you’re sedentary with equivalent urine output that could be 1-2 hourly), prone to recurrent colds, infections (fungal, bacterial and viral) etc

Just visit your family doctor to have all the above assessed. Your GP will organise a fasting glucose test.

This is perfectly normal. Are you visiting the bathroom much more lately? Does it seem like you urinate all day long? If the answer is NO then you should not worry. Urination becomes more frequent when there is too much glucose in the blood. If insulin is nonexistent or ineffective, the kidneys can’t filter glucose back to the blood. They become overwhelmed and try to draw extra water out of the blood to dilute the glucose. This keeps your bladder full and it keeps you running to the bathroom.
